Serang Primary School
\n<\/b>(Manaslu Conservation Area, Nepal)<\/h1>\n

The earthquake in 2015 has devastated several villages in the surrounding of Serang Gompa, Manaslu, Nepal. Many people have been killed, children and parents. The arable land is no longer existing and\/or less fertile.<\/p>\n

The Buddhist monks have been rescuing the children in need, a first step to provide shelter and food. 40-60 children\/partly orphans have been taken to the monastery by the monks. Since 2015 Serang Gompa provides food, clothing, shelter and schooling with basic education (Tibetan, English, Nepali, Maths, etc.).<\/p>\n

With some financial support, construction for the school has begun on the compounds of Serang Monastery. The space for this is very limited in the monastery and so many children disturb the organization of the monastery which is basically a place for meditation and retreat and NOT a care center for homeless children.<\/p>\n

For this reason, the monastery has started to build a school in Serang (2017) which should be finished with international support by the end of 2018 (for the first part).<\/p>\n

Greater financial support is required to build the actual school compound. The budget for building the school is checked and layed down in a transparent way.<\/p>\n

THUS: For 1.000 EURO\/ per year, you help to secure ongoing education for a better life instead of forcing young people to leave the country and work on the construction sites in Qatar, Saudi Arabia etc.<\/p>\n

\u201cTen years ago, it might have been possible to lead an isolated, agrarian life in the Himalayas. But ten years from now, even the remotest area will be penetrated by the internet and one\u2019s livelihood will depend on the education or training that one has received.\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n
