Human Care & Education is committed to educational equality and healthcare\u2014in a region of the world where these values, which we take for granted, are anything but normal: in Nepal and India. What began as a small school project in Nepal in 2018 has now grown into seven projects, including a medical station at 3,500 meters and a maternity clinic at 2,200 meters. The Mother’s Love Clinic in Bihi, Nepal.<\/p>

Two topics particularly moved us in the first half of 2025:
Hope at 2,200 meters: Help that opens eyes \u2013 and touches hearts<\/strong><\/p>

A medical project that is also a sign of hope:
In the remote mountain village of Bihi, Nepal, the Mother’s Love Clinic became the center of one of the largest eye care aid campaigns of the last 30 years.<\/p>

After three months of preparation, the time had come: in two weeks, 10 ophthalmologists and 15 medical professionals treated over 1,400 patients and performed 65 life-changing surgeries. They brought medical help to a place where there is otherwise none.<\/p>

Many of those affected would never have been able to afford the trip to a distant hospital. Older people in particular, who are often affected by cataracts or glaucoma, are left to fend for themselves in this region \u2013 with dramatic consequences: loss of vision, dependence, unemployment, poverty, isolation.<\/p>

Particularly moving was the fate of 61-year-old Tsewang Dondub, who had been blind for two years. He and his wife struggled through the mountains for two days to reach the clinic. After the operation, he said, overjoyed: \u201cNow I have hope again that I can live.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Thanks to donations from around the world and courageous logistics involving an operating room transported by helicopter, the impossible became possible.<\/p>

The Mother’s Love Clinic shows how medical care can succeed even under the most difficult conditions.
In addition to acute care, the region now needs long-term investment in education, prevention, and sustainable health structures.<\/p>

10 years after the earthquake: The first class graduates from middle school<\/strong><\/p>

In June 2015, a devastating earthquake (7.8) shook the Gorkha region. This was the birth of Human Care & Education. While many shied away from the rubble, we got to work \u2013 with the clear goal of offering the region’s orphans a future and breathing new life into the destroyed education system.<\/p>

Ten years and the construction of an earthquake-proof boarding school later, the first school year in Kathmandu has now taken its secondary school leaving exams after a five-day hike. These young people are ready to pursue their own career paths and lead self-determined lives \u2013 without being forced to go abroad.<\/p>

This success symbolizes much more than a school graduation. It stands for hope, change, and the tireless power of human solidarity. Together, we are building bridges to a future worth living\u2014right in the heart of the Himalayas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

At an altitude of 3,500 meters in the Himalayas, the Serang Buddhist monastery provided shelter and protection for many children in need after the devastating nationwide earthquake in 2015, many of whom had lost one or both parents.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Designed as a multi-generational home, seven orphans and four needy senior citizens are currently being fully cared for here. School attendance is also financed for the children. It is run by a non-profit Nepalese organization founded by the Christian parish under the leadership of Pastor Joshua Khadka and his wife Elizabeth.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Operation of a school with 350 children by a charitable Indian foundation for the poorest children who would otherwise not be able to attend school and would therefore have no prospect of escaping poverty. In addition to the school, Mercy & Grace also runs a school for seamstresses, where the children’s mothers (often widows) learn how to earn a living for their families through handicrafts.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
