Tashi Delek! and warm greetings from everyone at the school. I am writing to inform you that we have relocated our school to bihi and we are excited to share this update with you as one of our valued supporters. Bihi School is now fully operating full-time in Bihi village. This has made a very positive difference for the Nubri people and especially for the children. The students now have better access to education, more regular classes, and improved learning opportunities close to their homes. Every year the number of children increases, and families are very happy that their children can receive a good education.
As the school has grown, we have also recruited more teachers and added higher grades. Because of this, space at Serang School has become very limited. The classrooms are full, and there are not enough rooms for teachers. Originally, we considered splitting the students between Bihi and Serang because of the limited space in Serang. However, operating two separate schools would double the expenses and create many practical difficulties.
Regarding Serang School building, we have not yet made a final decision regarding the future use of the old Serang school building. The building also needs renovation because some of the wooden floor planks have become rotten. Due to the harsh weather conditions in Serang, if the building is not regularly used and maintained, it may cause further damages. We will discuss this further in our upcoming meetings and will inform you once a decision has been made.
Serang Monastery will continue to support the school, as the school has always been affiliated with Serang Monastery and the parents have strong trust and confidence in the monastery. The monastery continues to play an important role in preserving the culture, traditions, and spiritual life of the Nubri people. We have two monk teachers from the monastery to guide the school. In the future, we hope both modern education and traditional values can continue to develop together for the benefit of the younger generation and the whole community.
We have moved to bihi school but we are maintaining the registered name of serang school. This is because Bihi school does not hold the secondary school registration, and operating under its name would restrict us from offering classes beyond grade 8. Keeping the serang school name ensures our students can continue up to grade 10 without interruption.
Thank you to all the donors and members of HCE for your generous support, encouragement, and care for our children and community. Your continued support and kindness toward our community, the children, and the school means a lot to us. We are deeply grateful for your selfless contribution.
With deep appreciation,
Nuptul Tenpei Nyima
