Children’s Day – A decade of transformation!

10 years ago in 2015, after the devastating earthquake, a promise was made. To build a school where all children—regardless of gender or family background—could learn, live safely, and grow up with dignity. And because of your generosity, that promise became reality.
In the beginning, children slept in the dorm rooms of the Serang monastery and there were no teachers. Every dollar donated – also by Human Care & Education – was spent on the children: carry cement on mule-back to build the campus, pay teachers extra to stay in such remote region, turn cold stone into a warm classroom in the harsh winters, provide nutritious meals and basic medical supplies…
This May, the school celebrated its first eighth-grade graduation. Nine students completed their primary education — an unthinkable milestone a decade ago. All of them chose to continue their studies, and with the support of the local government, we are now officially a secondary school.
Today, over 140 students from kindergarten to Grade 9 call the school their second home. And the campus has also become the local cultural hub, where events are held regularly to preserve indigenous Tibetan culture.
We from Human Care & Education are proud to have been part of this journey. And we will continue to do so.
